Hello! I am Olivia, and am currently a senior at San Marin High School. I am the oldest of five children, four girls (including me) and one boy. So life at home is really interesting... or chaotic.
I am a very active musician, and have been my whole life. My mom likes to say it all started when she sang to me as a baby. At three years of age, my mom and I would take mommy-and-me music classes with an amazing teacher- Sandy. At four years of age, I started taking piano lessons with her. We would sing a little, too. Unfortunately, Sandy went on her own path, and started performing professionally. You can find her on YouTube.
At five years old, my mom found another teacher- Melissa. She is a phenomenal pianist, and sings just as beautifully.
Unfortunately, Melissa moved to Texas, and I had to find another piano/voice teacher. I didn't have to look for too long though-we found another one just as good as Melissa by the name of Nate.
Nate is a great piano teacher, and he really wants you to enjoy what you are learning.
In sixth grade, I started taking music classes through the school. I took the choir class during the school day, and started playing with the beginning jazz band every Wednesday morning before school. After school, I picked up the cello, and was in the spring musicals. My middle school music teacher was very kind, and he took my love of music to a whole new level. Especially when we went on field trips to jazz festivals, and in eighth grade... Disneyland. :)
I knew for sure I wanted to continue everything I had done in Sinaloa (that was my middle school), so I came to San Marin so I could continue all my favorite music classes- Jazz Band, Jazz Choir, String Orchestra, and Musical. Mrs. McIvor and Mrs. Gates are marvelous teachers, and I am forever grateful to them for sharing their love of music to everyone around them.
In my spare time, I decided to learn the ukulele and the guitar, as well as trying to do some songwriting.
With this music background, I know for sure I would like to take music into my future. But in what field of music? I am still figuring that out.
I am also a huge LOTR fan. Not kidding. I am currently learning Elvish in the Lord of the Rings style: both the Quenya and Sindarin languages and the Tengwar (Elvish) writing. It's hard, but it's fun and interesting to learn. I am fluent in a few phrases, and find it really funny when I say something in Elvish and no one understands me. Ni lassui ("Thank you" in Sindarin) and Hantanyel ("Thank you" in Quenya), and enjoy my site!
I will be attending Loyola University New Orleans starting in the fall of 2018, and I will be majoring in Popular and Commercial Music Performance and Industry Studies. I am really excited to see where this new adventure takes me.
