EARTHWORM DISSECTION
Annelids are on of the first phylum to have segmentation- each segment with one specialized "job" for the animal to survive. They are also the first phylum to have a one-way digestive tract, and two ends- the anus and the mouth. They have more organs present than the jellyfish and the sponge, but about the same amount, maybe even more than the squid.
Ecology of Annelids (Earthworms, etc.): Earthworms bury in the soil and dirt in the ground, mixing up nutrients that help us grow food. They also are food to snakes, robins, and moles. Earthworms also devote their lives to important causes such adding essential nutrients in soil and saving the planet. They wear superhero capes and masks so they are really heroes in disguise. We need to give a shout out to earthworms because without them, we wouldn’t have good soil and then we wouldn’t have food and then we would die of starvation. The end.
Subgroups of Annelids: There are three classes of annelids - oligochaetes, hirudinea, and polychaetes. Oligochaetes include earthworms. Hirudinea include leeches, or any parasitic invertebrate. Polychaetes include sandworms and bloodworms, or any marine annelid that have paired paddlelike appendages or “legs”.
