Stafford Lake Field Trip Reflections
.) Describe the ecological problems of the stream at Stafford Lake: There is a lot of erosion that affects Stafford Lake. Since Stafford Lake is a huge part of Novato's drinking supply, erosion can dirty the water, and destroy many aquatic and land animals' homes.
.) Describe the components of the Marin County Parks Project that are addressing these problems: Some of the components of this project were removing invasive species and changing the streams to make them meander so there is less erosion.
.) What part of the project did you work on yesterday? We worked on removing invasive species of plant by sheet mulching.
.) Was your work part of an 'Integrated Pest Management' approach? Our work was part of an 'Integrated Pest Management'.
.) Reflect on what you liked about this field trip and the importance of volunteer work in restoring local watersheds and/or habitats: I enjoyed being outside with my fellow STEM students on improving the habitat for the animals at Stafford Lake. This is also very important in helping our communities water to stay fresh and sanitary.
